Granny squares and a vintage bag.

A friend gave me a big cone with creme soft wool.

When I saw it I thought of a soft baby blanket. So I'm making squares and must say I love doing it. Every spare(??) minute I make another square.

And from the fabric that I bought 2 weeks ago in the second hand shop I made this vintage bag for my shop. You never have enough tote bags I think, they are so use full for all sorts of things.

Lady... What's in the bag ?!?!

Lisette asked me what's in your bag? Here is the answer. I can tell you there was a lot of rubbish in the bag , so for me it was a good opportunity to give it a big clean out.
Do you really want to see it.......

An umbrella, because you never know. I'm not using it a lot because if it is raining in New-Zealand it a very windy as well, so it's better to run if you don't want to be wet.
My Phone, little Oililly mirror and a real dutch Jip en Janneke wallet. A small first aid kit in a nice little tin. Hay fever tables because it is that time of the year again , a very important coffee card (what are we without coffee),A measuring tape because you can always find me in a second hand shop and it is so easy to know if the basket will fit where I planed it.
And my own flyer's from my little " Party in a box " business. So I can always promote myself. If you want a theme party for your kids , you can hire a party box and I guarantee hours of fun.
There is much more so have a look yourself.

I'm curious what Margie carries in her bag. So please show us !!

What a weekend !!

The Quilts that I made were not for sale , just for display

Our little cat was the best visitor, she was around the whole weekend and loved all the attention she got.

My daughter Elle who did all the bead work and me

The veranda was our stall.

Some of the bead work

Bit more of the veranda.

A little corner.

We had the Arts Trail this weekend and we can say it was a big success! The weather was top, the sun was out the whole weekend , we had lots of visitors and sold heaps. It was great!
For us it started on Friday evening with organizing and putting everything where we want it. It was all in my head so we did it quite fast. Saturday morning at 10 am the Arts Trail went of and our first visitors came soon. We didn't have proper time for lunch and after 4 pm there where still a lot of people. I loved it to have a talk with everybody and everybody was happy because of the great weather. We got a lot of compliments about the garden and our little kitchen garden. We made liters of coffee and tea and served more than 100 home made muffins.
It ended on Sunday afternoon 4 pm but around 5 pm we had still some people coming.

I have to make one quilt for a lady and I sold a lot of things to a shop. (hopefully I'm in business). I'm running out of stock, so for the coming school fair (in 10 days time) I have to make a lot more. Today I was busy making more roll-up pencil cases for the school fair, but a friend who came over for a cup of tea bought them all already. The where still warm from the iron.
I was planning to stock up my Etsy shop with all the leftovers from the Arts Trail but we need it all for the school fair so later on I will stock-up my Etsy shop.

It was great and I hope to do it again next year!

Creative week, part 2

This is day two of showing you my work. We started the day very slow because my little girl had a teacher only day. It is great to spend some time just with one. She stayed in bed a bit longer than normal and we baked some nice cupcakes for afternoon tea together. She did the decoration part and I can tell you there was a lot of icing involved. But by the time her big sisters came home we she was finished and we had some nice cupcakes.

I made a lot of great gift bags, I saw the tutorial on Heleen's blog and they are really easy to make and are great for the gifts on the Arts Trail. Makes it more professional.
So thanks a lot Heleen for showing how to make these great gift bags.

I made a bag out of purple jute with vintage lace, it's a big bag so great so take all your stuff with you. It's made to sell on the Arts Trail but If I don't sell it I put it in my Etsy shop.
I like all the bags I made but can't keep them all so I have to make a good choice.

New bag

Spring is in the air, time for a new bag. I made the bag for myself. Normally I make them to sell but I saw the fabric and I was in Love! My favorite colour for the summer is bright pink so this will suite my outfits. It's a big bag so I can put my whole household in it. Everybody is always surprised what is coming out of my bag.

I'm really busy sewing these days. There is a Art trail coming up in the beginning of November and a school fair at the end of November. I have a stall on the school fair and my house and garden is open on the art trail. Hopefully the weather will be nice then. I'm making bags, roll-up pencil cases, lavender love heart and nice hair accessories for the girls, and probably much more.

This week my dad is coming over from The Netherlands and we haven't seen him for almost 4 years, so we are all very excited. This will be an other busy time.

Bags, bags and more bags.

First I like to thank you all for the great comments and nice e-mails that I received from you.
It makes me so happy and gives me spirit to write new posts and make new photos.
I had a busy time this weekend. I decided to paint the kitchen table, site table and a handful little items white, so that was and still is my job these days. I paint everything white and for the finishing touch I sand it. My husband thinks I'm crazy but it gives a nice old effect.
But I love painting, it is so relaxing and when I see the result it makes me smile. One of my girls joint me and she is painting her bed white (pink isn't cool anymore if you are turning 13).
So we spend almost a whole weekend in the garage painting.

And another exciting thing is that I opened my own on-line shop. I made a handful of great bags. I'm selling them on Etsy. I'm very exited about it. I always dreamed about my own shop, but with 3 girls and a busy working husband that was not working. But here is my chance and I hope it will work well.

Introducing

This is the first time that I write in my blog.
I am Jacoline, me and my family emigrated to New Zealand from The Netherlands 3 years ago.
I can tell you, we went through some hard times in those 3 years, but we found our dream.

We bought a lovely home close to the beach. I spend a lot of time in our garden which has a lot of fruit trees, a nice vegetable garden and great flowers.

I love to shop in secondhand shops and garages sales are the best invention ever.
My days are filled with craft, cooking , baking and of course my 3 girls.
I try to have a beachwalk every day and on wednesday I join the quilt club.

We are still busy with rebuiling the house to make it a great home.
We like traveling and like to discover our new country.
I keep you updated with new stories, recipes, ideas and pictures every week.
