Crafty time and a road trip.

I love to be organized and have my things organized so when I saw this little box in the second hand shop I had a plan for it. The box didn't look as nice as it does now so there was some work to do. Have a look yourself.

Before.

After.

Here in New Zealand we had a long weekend last weekend (labour day). For me it was a normal weekend because I always work on Saturday and have Mondays of. So on Monday we had an extra family day.
We went for a bike ride to Eastbourne (with the car from the Kapiti Coast to Eastbourne) and biked to the lighthouse, it was a great bike ride except from the wind on the way back. But we did it and it was great.

In the evening we went to the beach and made a small bonfire. The sunset was lovely and by the tine the fire was burning we were surrounded by little boys and girls. Where they came from I don't know, but they loved it that was for sure!

Some work to do!

After a long time we went to some garage sale on Saturday and I must say it was worth wile.
I'm always a bit in a hurry because I have to open my shop in the morning as well, but for some great garage sales you make some time.

The car was full with bits and pieces and most of the are already in use. What a bit of white paint can do. Have a look yourself.

One small table is in use at the back veranda to enjoy the midday and evening sun.

From the old brown frame I made a lovely picture frame that is for sale in my shop. Two weeks ago I made one like this and it was sold within a day.

And the little shelf rack found his place in my workspace behind the shop.

And you have never enough tables to put things on in the shop, so the small one is for the shop and is for sale as well.
It was a busy weekend but I loved it!

Time to relax....?

The laundry is finished. Not really because there is always some washing to do but the painting and decoration is done. It looks great and I'm happy with the end result.

It looks fresh and welcoming although it is not my favorite room to be.

My little girl made the curtain in front of the cat door.

I found this piece of driftwood on the beach and with some hooks we made this.

Time to relax.... No , there are heaps of feijoas and I want to make feijoa crumble for dessert and I'm still painting more and more doors.

This is how it all looked before, that's why I don't want to look back.

Piece by piece.

Last summer I started to mosaic a table top. But I didn't finish it off. It is one of the jobs that you have to make some time for, you can't do it in a rush.
I made a mosaic from old cups and plates that I found on garage sale and op shops in the area and on holiday.
It is great if you sit outside and look at the table and spot to plate that you found during the holiday. Brings me back to good memories.

The table and chairs are standing on my front veranda on a nice sunny spot. And even in the winter you will catch some sunshine. On a rainy day this is the perfect spot as well.

Crazy things.

This is my crazy home made cake stand. I bought a box of old cups and plates on a cat boot sale and it was standing in my cub board for weeks without using it, because there where never enough plates for a whole table setting. I don't lite it if things are standing there and you never use it so this was my idea.
I put it all together with super glue and my cake stand was born.
It looks great with home made chocolate cookies. But you can also use it with all sorts of things. With a Little vase of flowers on top and cookies and cakes on the other plate you serve a great high tea.

Last year we started to renovate the kitchen. But then it became summer and we stoped working on this project. We had visitors over for the whole summer and with the great weather we love to spend our time outside. But the winter is back again so we started in the kitchen again.
Lat Sunday we made plans for the kitchen doors, so we replace them for new ones. Lieke had a friend over and we ask them to decorate the old doors with felt. They were really surprised and started the same minute. We told the friend: Not to do this at home!!
You imagine they had great fun!

I'll keep you updated with the renovation. We ordered a new range hood and the lady form the shop already told us that there was a delay, so we have to wait a few more weeks, there is always something.

Lots of things done !!

Do you know the feeling when you have done lots of things and they are all finished. It gives me a great and satisfied feeling.
There was a bag with shells in the garage for months , I had my plan but still no time and idea how to do. But I did it , I made a great framed artwork with all the little shells from our last holiday. I glued them all on a piece of canvas that I bought in a shop and painted in my favorite colour lavender.

And the chair is finished. With some fresh white paint and a new fabric cover it is e new chair for me. We bought a little desk that I put in the spear bedroom and with this chair it will give me some great working space. I already used it quite a bit this week.

And I made some more friends. The pink one found already a new home and the others are for a shop. I put some in my Etsy shop a well.

And last but not least this is the last project where I'm working on. It is still work in progress but I tell you later all about it.

She made the drawing and I made the costume.

Bath-room make over

Before.

Cleaning, sanding painting, last weekend I did it all. I gave the girls bathroom a little make over. Every house in New-Zealand has two or more bathrooms. In the beginning I thought that's a bit over the top but now we are having our own en-suite and the girls have there own bathroom I think it is wonderful.
When we moved into the house two years ago we already did the walls and the ceiling but never did the rest. So now it was the time to do it.
You can tell me what you think about it. It think it looks much better!

After.

I love the new door knobs. Bought them in a great shop in Wellington called Magnolia.

Of course I made a little flower arrangement from fresh flowers out of the garden.
Flowers make the house a real home.
And I bought the girls a range of new bath products. But now we have the problem that they won't come out of the bathroom anymore.

And last but not least I want to show you the best breakfast ever. Sunday it was mothers-day and we don't really celebrate it because my birthday is a week before, but my little 10 year old made me this lovely breakfast and a great painting. The other two girls where off to there weekend job and daddy was biking, so we had a great time together. Thanks darling I love you!!!
xxx Mum.

Introducing

This is the first time that I write in my blog.
I am Jacoline, me and my family emigrated to New Zealand from The Netherlands 3 years ago.
I can tell you, we went through some hard times in those 3 years, but we found our dream.

We bought a lovely home close to the beach. I spend a lot of time in our garden which has a lot of fruit trees, a nice vegetable garden and great flowers.

I love to shop in secondhand shops and garages sales are the best invention ever.
My days are filled with craft, cooking , baking and of course my 3 girls.
I try to have a beachwalk every day and on wednesday I join the quilt club.

We are still busy with rebuiling the house to make it a great home.
We like traveling and like to discover our new country.
I keep you updated with new stories, recipes, ideas and pictures every week.
