Home sweet home.

In a previous post I told you about my new project. I've made a lot of cushion covers for the settee in the living room.
I took all the cushions from the outside daybed , washed the covers and stored them for the next summer. And with the winter coming up I like it to make my house nice and cosy. The best way to do that is with cushions and candles I think.

In the local op shop I saw a great big blanket made out of wool and knew directly that I could make cushion covers out of it. I took it home, washed it, appliqued some love hearts and letters on it and the new cushion covers are finished.

Let it snow , let it snow. I think that will never happen over here but we are ready for a long "warm" winter.

These are lovely and I am sure cuddly and warm to hug too. You are fortunate to find nice old blankets here in the southern hemisphere. I also picked one up the other day but have not yet decided what to do with it. Cherrie

Oh how beautiful! I have a blanket sitting around on my sofa that I bought for the exact same purpose but I'm still waiting for inspiration. I love the colours you've used, so cosy.

Lovely repurposing Jacoline! I agree about the cozying up your home for the winter time. It makes it so much nicer when you spend more time indoors!

They are just beautiful. Woolen blankets are in short supply in our neck of the woods but I'm always on the lookout. x

What gorgeous cushions, I particularly like the home cushion, just lovely. I love the way you recycle things and make great new things out of something like a blanket, very inspiring!
Love vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)

Introducing

This is the first time that I write in my blog.
I am Jacoline, me and my family emigrated to New Zealand from The Netherlands 3 years ago.
I can tell you, we went through some hard times in those 3 years, but we found our dream.

We bought a lovely home close to the beach. I spend a lot of time in our garden which has a lot of fruit trees, a nice vegetable garden and great flowers.

I love to shop in secondhand shops and garages sales are the best invention ever.
My days are filled with craft, cooking , baking and of course my 3 girls.
I try to have a beachwalk every day and on wednesday I join the quilt club.

We are still busy with rebuiling the house to make it a great home.
We like traveling and like to discover our new country.
I keep you updated with new stories, recipes, ideas and pictures every week.
